Use this strong magnet for checking the alignment of your longarm needle.

Getting the perfect needle alignment can be difficult and it's essential to ensure that the "timing" of the thread pickup of the underneath thread and the top thread match. Otherwise you can get skipped stitches.

We've sourced these powerful rectangular magnets so help you when you replace your needle.

With the needle at it's HIGHEST possible position follow the instructions below.

Replace your longarm needle in your machine by lossening the hex nut in your needle clamp screw. (If you have one of the old plastic needle clamp screws we recommend you ask your service technician to replace it with one of the newer metal needle clamp screws at the next service as the newer ones can be tightened better.)

Place the magnet as shown in the pictures when you think you have the needle correctly aligned. It should be at the "6" position of a clock face. If it isn't you can leave the magnet in place while you loosen the hex nut in your needle clamp screw and just turn the needle slightly to the left or right so that it is absolutely on the "6" of a clock face. 

You have successfully aligned your needle!
