Join us on Friday 22nd November for our Dream Big Quilting Workshop with Handi Quilter Educator Abigail Sheridan de Graaff.
Quilting gone viral? That is what happened in 2018 when Handi Quilter Educator Kelly Ashton first quilted a Hoffman Dream Big Panel. Get swept up in the craze at this one day class.
When we are quilting we are constantly making decisions but are they subconscious or conscious? Let’s make each decision count. Learn more about thread and wadding choices in order to help you achieve the result you want.
Not sure what all the Handi Feet do? We will talk about all the feet and you can try them out to get different effects.
And that’s all before we get to the quilting! We will cover rulerwork, creative free motion fills and feathers so that you can quilt your panel just as you would like.
Phew, what a lot to get done. And if you do get it all done, you may just get to apply binding whilst your quilt is still on the frame.
Select from our Dream Big Panel collection and spend the day learning different quilting techniques and styles to fill your own unique Dream Big Panel. Please note that the examples shown on this class description may vary from the ones that we have in stock for the class. The first two part-quilted Dream Big Panels were quilted by Abigail. The third example of the Neon Dream Big was quilted by Liz Holpin. Both were quilted on an Amara.
The cost of a Dream Big Panel and thread selection is included in the price of the workshop.
We have ONE MACHINE per person on this workshop. Plus we demonstrate some of the techniques on a large screen so that you can stand at your machine and immediately practice what you've seen. Both these factors really increase the amount you can learn in a day.
Feedback from Abigail's Improv Quilting Workshop.
"The Workshop was very well structured. I loved that we had so much time on the machines and were able to explore the varying techniques. Great day!"
"Very friendly, lovely to see other like minded quilters and see what they create"
The best thing was we were "..able to watch Abigail sew on a large screen".
"Absolutely loved it!"
For more information about Abigail please visit her Cut&Alter website.
Suitable for All Levels
In order to maximise learning and consolidation of skills there will be one student per machine for all machines. The sitdown machines will be a mix of Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen and Pfaff powerquilter 16.0. Many of the features of the two models are similar and can easily be explained. The standup machines are a mix of Infinity or Forte on Gallery Frames, Amara or Avante on demonstration Studio Frames and Simply Sixteens on Little Foot and Studio Frames.
Note: This is a techniques based class for Handi Quilter Owners. All students should already be familiar with the functions of a Handi Quilter longarm machine and have attended our Foundation Workshop and have a good working knowledge of the Handi Quilter machines. If you have selected a machine that you are not familiar with or need advice on whether this class is suitable please email us in in advance - email@example.com
